Description for Heritage Category: The photograph is of the Collingwood Terminals built in 1929 and stands 180 ft. tall. The Terminals symbolize the twin engines of commerce in the early 1900's, agriculture and shipping. The building could store up to 2,000,000 bushels of grain and operated for 64 years ending in 1993. It is the most important industrial site in the Collingwood Heritage district.
The Sentinel - Nottawasaga Lighthouse

Description for Heritage Category: The photograph is of the Historic Nottawasaga Lighthouse located on Nottawasaga Island just west of the Collingwood Harbour. It was built between 1855 and 1858 by John Brown who was a Scottish Stonemason. The tower is 85 ft high, built of local quary stone in a connical shape with an ornate lantern room imported from France including a french Fresnel Lens that makes the light visible from a great distance. The tower operated for 124 years and was manned by a lighhouse keeper until 1959 at which point the lighhouse became automated. It ceased operating in 1982.
